Marie Ganser (Hochhausen)
Marie Theresa (nee Hochhausen) Ganser was born in Provost Alberta on September 13, 1923. She was the fifth child to Philip and Stephanie Hochhausen.
The family first lived in Provost, and later moved to a farm in the Hokenheim district where Marie attended school until high school. She and her brother Ben went to Hanna for grades ten to eleven and finished grade 12 in Provost, where she met her future husband Raymond Ganser. She then worked at various jobs in Provost until her marriage to Ray in 1949. She worked as a homemaker on the farm, first at Cadogan and then south of Provost where they raised four children, Marianne, Alvin, Myron and Charity. She was involved in her church, arts and crafts, and dancing. She and Ray travelled extensively, first with the family and then later in retirement, dancing and doing aid work. She moved to Hillcrest Lodge in 2016 after Ray was forced to go to the nursing home due to dementia.
Marie passed away on April 28, 2018 after suffering a severe stroke a week earlier.
She was predeceased by her husband, Ray; son in law, Harold Morrell and grandson Christopher Morrell, her brothers; William “Bill”, Henry, Francis, and Phillip; sisters; Gertrude “Trudy” Comm, Margaret “Marney” Ganser, Phyllis Sullivan, and Catherine “Cathy” Doyle.
