Don, my deepest condolences go out to you and your family. Penny was a special lady.
She and I grew up just a few miles apart on neighboring farms near Cadogan. For twelve years we rode the same school bus...twice a day, ten months of the year. One gets to know a person quite well as you sit side by side on the bus for that long....comparing homework assignments, trying to figure out how fractions worked, chatting about the highlights of the day. Even then Penny's cheerful attitude and positive work ethic shone through.
Musical talent seems to be a Johnson family trait, and Penny certainly inherited that trait. Penny could make a piano "sing" in a way that made one stop to listen and tap your feet to the music.
She touched so many lives as a teacher, as a community volunteer, and as a friend. She will be missed.
