Erick Charles Landmark

Erick Landmark
February 9, 1945 – April 3, 2026

Erick Charles Landmark was born at Provost on February 9, 1945 to parents, Elmer and Betty Landmark. He was the eldest of 6, his siblings being – Janet, Donna, Richard, Greta and Dean.

He grew up on the family farm south of Provost and attended Kilo school until grade 9 when the country school was closed and students were bussed to Provost. After completing grade 11, Erick purchased some land including the Landmark Homestead. He spent a couple of winters working at Red Deer for a car dealership, towing vehicles. He also worked at Sherwood Park framing and drywalling houses and then at Grande Cache area in construction. He married Carol Anholt on April 5,1969 and together they lived and farmed on the homestead until May 2025 when they moved into Provost. Erick continued to go to the farm several times a week to help his son Kirk with various chores. He was a ‘regular’ at A&W for afternoon coffee with the local guys.

Erick loved to visit with everyone he met and was always willing to help neighbours. He thoroughly enjoyed country music; his favourite artists were Charlie Pride and Alabama. Erick and Carol attended the Big Valley Jamboree for 25 years as well as several times to Minot, ND HostFest where they enjoyed so many of the top country artists. Erick was also a very graceful dancer, particularly doing the ‘Old Time’ Waltz. Erick and Carol travelled to several US destinations including visits with good friends in Yuma and Mexico and trips with the whole family to Disneyland, Mexico and a Cruise. The trip to Norway was the most memorable and was highlighted with a visit to the beautiful Landmark Farm.

Erick also enjoyed playing cards, fishing, visiting with neighbours, wiener roasts with the kids in the front yard and many Landmark/Anholt get-togethers including with ‘Double’ cousins Ken and Linda Landmark and family who have always been regarded as siblings to Erick and the rest of the family. Lutheran church services were very special to him as well as the Museum activities.

Erick greatly appreciated the help on the farm from Roger and Val Mielke and family over the years. Erick had so many blessings in his life; a wonderful and supportive family, great friends, good health and the final gift of all; leaving this earth instantly, while working on the farm doing what he loved doing most.
