Constantine “Con” Frank Schiebelbein

May 7, 1925 – May 11, 2025

Constantine “Con” Frank Schiebelbein was born on May 7, 1925, on the family farm located 25 miles south of Macklin, Saskatchewan. He was the middle child in a large family of fifteen, born to Constantine and Caroline (Zieger) Schiebelbein, who immigrated from Russia to the Macklin area in 1914.

Con received his early education at Panama School, a one-room country schoolhouse located approximately four miles from the family farm. In his youth, he worked as a farm labourer and spent winters logging in Drayton Valley, Alberta, and Northern Ontario.

In 1949, after his parents moved into town, Con and his brother George assumed responsibility for the family farm. They transitioned to grain farming in 1956 after selling their small herd of cattle. In 1978, the brothers built a house in Macklin where they spent their winters while continuing to farm until their retirement in 1986.

Con and George enjoyed winter travels to destinations such as Mexico, Hawaii, the Bahamas, Alaska, Prince Edward Island, and Yugoslavia. Con was deeply committed to his community, generously volunteering with several organizations, including the Knights of Columbus and the Macklin Housing Authority.

He cherished time spent with his extended family, he was an enthusiastic hockey fan, and enjoyed golfing and playing cards—particularly buck—with friends.

He is survived by his sisters-in-laws: Jovita Schiebelbein (née Gramlich, wife of Alex), Gabrielle Schiebelbein (née DePannemacker, wife of John), and Connie Sheen (née Hope, wife of Bert); his brother-in-law, Don Harlock (husband of Julianna); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Con was predeceased by his parents, Constantine and Caroline Schiebelbein; all 14 of his siblings and several of their spouses: Mary & Simon Bosch, Alex Schiebelbein, Helen & Joe Rolheiser, John Schiebelbein, Peter & Mary (née Gramlich) Schiebelbein, Jacob & Paula (née Rolheiser) Schiebelbein, George Schiebelbein, Betty & Walter Schroh, Joseph & Shirley (née Robertson) Sheen, Rudy & Florence (née Feser) Sheen, Raymond Sheen, Bert Sheen, Julianna & Art Klotz, and Alvina Schiebelbein.

Con will be remembered for his work ethic, generous spirit, sense of humor, and deep devotion to his faith, family and community. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched.

Vigil Service for Con will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2025 at 7:30 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 23, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held at the St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Macklin, Saskatchewan with Father Christopher Selvaraj Rayappan SAC officiating. Interment will follow at the Macklin Lakeview Cemetery.

For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be available here through Con’s obituary page at the time of the service through the Gregory's Funeral Home Inc. website.
