Obituary of Harold Alexander Cromarty
Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold Alexander Cromarty was born on September 30, 1929 at Provost, Alberta to parents, William and Dorothy Cromarty.
Alex passed away peacefully on June 26, 2025, at the Provost Health Centre – Long Term Care at the age of 95.
Alex will fondly be remembered as someone who always found the good in others and a loving father who raised his children by humble example. He was a hard-working farmer and dedicated husband and father. He and his wife Gwen welcomed many friends and family into their home with open arms. He also had a passion for genealogy researching connections to past generations.
A devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alex will be missed and forever loved by his Seven children and their spouses, William, John (Valerie), Marie (Kirk), Michelle (Mark), Nicole, Richard (GerriLynn) and April (Rob); 28 Grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; brother, Ken (Shirley) and sister in law, Adele. His legacy of faith and love will live on in his posterity.
He was predeceased by his wife, Gwendolyn Marie Harder; parents, William and Dorothy Cromarty; brothers, Robert and Ronald, who died in infancy in 1932; and sister, Betty (Larry) Burgess. Alex was surely welcomed into a joyous reunion with his cherished family and friends.
We are grateful for his life’s example and honor him in death. We express our gratitude to all who have supported and prayed for our family during our time of mourning.
If friends so desire, memorial donations are gratefully accepted at the Missionary Fund for The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-day Saints.
A funeral service will be held for Alex on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at the Provost United Church with Jason Orr officiating. Private family interment to follow at the Provost Cemetery.
For those unable to attend, a livestream will be available of the funeral service and accessible through the GFH website at the time of the service.
