Obituary of Kenneth Allan Froland

Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Kenneth Allan Froland was born on December 4, 1946, at Provost, Alberta to Melvin and Alice Froland.

Ken passed away on July 1, 2025, at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 78 years.

Ken grew up in Czar and went to school there and went on the Central High in Hughenden and then went to Camrose to complete his grade 12 year. He then worked a few jobs before joining the Navy.  Ken stayed enlisted for a couple of years and enjoyed seeing some very cool places like Hawaii and Japan. Ken worked as a truck driver and later serviced trailers at a dealership in Edmonton. In 1972 Ken married Betty Lou Davie and they lived in the Winterburn area in Edmonton until Betty Lou passed away in 2019.  Ken especially loved his time at the Winter’s Lounge near their home in Edmonton.  He would stop after work and loved nothing more than sitting with friends and having a few cold ones.  He had a permanent place in that bar and they had their own little version of the show “Cheers” where everybody knows your name. After Betty Lou passed away Ken moved to Hillcrest Lodge at Provost.

Ken will be remembered for his easy laughter and his love of golf.  Ken and Betty Lou had a holiday trailer parked at the Devon Golf Course and they spent countless hours there every spring and summer where they made lifelong friendships.

Ken was treated so well at Hillcrest Lodge and loved when he could tease the Home Care nurses and complain about having to follow the rules. The family wants to thank the entire staff at Hillcrest Lodge for the care he received while living there and also the staff at the Provost Healthcare Centre for the care during his hospital stays.

A graveside service will be held in mid August at the Czar Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery, details to follow.
