Obituary of Dean Cameron Hager

Dean Cameron Hager was born on May 15, 1958, in Provost, Alberta, to Robert and Wanda Hager. He was raised in the Greenglade District, surrounded by the love and energy of a large family, growing up alongside his 10 siblings.
Dean met and married the love of his life, Lindy Bouma. Together they built a home rooted in love, resilience, and devotion, raising four children: Jesse, Candice, Marty, and Heather.
Dean was a man of principle, known for his unwavering work ethic, deep loyalty to his family, and appreciation for genuine friendship. Through life’s challenges, he remained steadfast in his love for Lindy and his children. He believed in earning your keep, standing by your word, and cherishing those close to you.
Dean is lovingly remembered by his wife, Lindy; his children, Jesse Hager, Candice Hager, Marty Hager, and Heather (Yaro) Yasel; and his grandchildren, Zander, Jaxen, Jacob, Jasmine, Mila, and Darius. He also leaves behind his siblings, Murray (Luc Maria) Hager, Grant (Denise) Hager, Dawn Paulgaard, Marcia (Todd) Hicks, and Judy (Urb) Laboucane; his in-laws, Bernie (Cheryl) Bouma, Rick (Sylvia) Bouma, Betty Ann (Pat) Wasylynuk, Lori (Ron) Scheck, and Maurice Fountaine; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Wanda Hager; his siblings, Myrna Adams, Craig Hager, Joan Davis, Danny Hogan, and Lorna Fountaine; his parents-in-law, Ted and Barb Bouma; and his siblings-in-law, Jackie Bouma, Don Bouma, and Purvis Paulgaard.
A funeral service to honour Dean’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Provost Recreation & Cultural Centre in Provost, Alberta, with Pastor Paul McCormick officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dean’s memory to the Canadian Mental Health Association – Alberta Division, in support of men’s mental health and addiction services, or to the Provost Cemetery Fund.
Dean will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his quiet strength, his loyalty, and the love he carried for those closest to him.
