Obituary of Patricia Donna Clarke

Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Patricia “Pat” Clarke
March 17, 1947 – September 10, 2025

Patricia Donna McNabb was born in Eston, Saskatchewan to Helen (Collins) and Donald McNabb on March 17, 1947. This made St. Patrick’s Day a special holiday in her family. She grew up with her younger brother Jack on the farm at Isham and Tyner, Saskatchewan. She started school at Tyner and graduated from Eston High School in 1965.

Pat then went to Business College in Saskatoon and used her training to work in law offices and banks as well as community groups for most of her life.

In 1966, Pat married Gerald Clarke in Saskatoon where they both worked before returning to Tyner to farm with the McNabbs. They lived in Eston and Isham. In 1972 the young family made the first of several moves in Gerald’s grain buying career to Rosetown, SK. They had two daughters, Laureen & Lindsay. They continued to raise their family in Vermilion and Provost, Alberta. The two of them also lived in Viking and Vegreville for a few years.

Laureen married Jack Rennie of Hayter and Lindsay married Warren Heisler of Cadogan and eventually Pat and Gerald retired and moved back to Provost in 2003 to spend more time with their grandchildren, Nelson, Drake and Karlin. A special treat for Pat in recent years was getting to know Ty, Tori and Bri and including them in the family; but becoming a great nana was a title she treasured with Sutton and Rocker.

Being diagnosed with lung and heart disease five years ago was the beginning of a marathon Pat did not have time to prepare for. She and Gerald moved to Hillcrest Lodge in 2023, and she often said it was her last all inclusive. Her entire family was able to spend so much quality time with her that they will always cherish.

Pat is lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years Gerald, her daughters and their families, Laureen and Jack, Drake (Tori), Karlin (Ty); Lindsay and Warren, Nelson (Brianna) and their children, Sutton and Rocker; her brother, Jack McNabb (Terryl Essery); in-laws, Maynard Clarke (†Elaine), Maureen Kresak (†Ivan), Pat King (†Harvey), and Chris Clarke (Valerie) as well as numerous extended family members, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Pat was predeceased by her parents, Don and Helen McNabb; parents in law, Earl and Berniece Clarke; an infant son; and her nieces, Megan and Samantha.

Memorial donations may be made to Provost Palliative Care, The Provost Library or any charity of the donor’s choice.  The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Hillcrest Lodge, Provost Health Centre, and the community for their support in words, actions and thoughts.

A Celebration of Pat’s life will be held on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Provost Recreation & Cultural Centre in Provost, Alberta.

For those unable to attend, a live stream of Pat's funeral will be available here, through the GFH Website.
