Obituary of Dianne Stang

Please share a memory of Dianne to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Dianne Joan (Kirwer) Stang was born May 8, 1946 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to Emma and Edward. She was the 4th child out of 6 children, which they raised on the family farm by Denzil, Saskatchewan.

Dianne married Markus Stang on August 16, 1965, shortly after the loss of her dad. Mark and Dianne settled on the Stang homestead and in 1973, they purchased and moved their family to their own family farm by Primate, Saskatchewan. The new farm had running water and this was a very exciting time for Dianne.

They lived on the farm till 1998, when they moved into Macklin. This was also an exciting time for Dianne, it was the first time she had ever lived in town. Once Mark’s health started to fail in 2015, they moved into a smaller apartment and from there they had a short stay at the Villa Marie; until Mark had to move into the Long Term Care in Provost. Dianne wanted to be closer to Mark, so she moved into the Hillcrest Lodge. She was diagnosed with Dementia in 2017 and shortly after made a final move into the Provost Long Term Care.

Dianne and Mark had 8 children, and she spent most of her time baking, cooking and running after all of the children, which she loved. She had a love for babies, whether it was her own or others, she was gifted when it came to calming a crying baby; she loved nothing more than to swaddle them tight and rock them till they were settled.

Dianne was a homebody she loved to spend time at home with her children and later on her grandchildren, who brought her so much happiness.

Dianne’s diagnosis with dementia was a changing point in her life. She no longer was able to take care of everyone like she loved to so, so then it was her children’s turn to take care of her. She had so many great caregivers at Provost Long Term Care that became apart of her family in the 7 and a half years they looked after her.

She loved to laugh and that sense of humour never left her.

Dianne passed away peacefully on   November 9, 2025 at the Provost Health Centre – Long Term Care at the age of 79.

Dianne will be lovingly remembered and forever missed by her family; children, Debbie (Zacc) Bast, Rhonda (Randy) Rustad, Cindy (Blain) Paulson, Shannon Stang (Dean), Darin (Erin) Stang, Melinda (Jesse) Matalski, Joanne (Al) Greenwood and Amanda Bender (Jason); grandchildren, Greg (Kaitlin), Adam (Rachelle), Cole, Sasha, Krystal (Brandon), Bryanna, Austin, Tara (Jared), Konar, Alexa, Brynn, Emmett, Easton, Charlotte, Nathan (Krystin), Justin, Charlee (Nevin), Casey (Drayton), Luke (Harper), Meleena (Nick) and Brooke (Braxton); great grandchildren, Natalie, Lydia, Vivian, Tatum, Karsyn, Alaina, Aleida, Dominik, Daxton, Kenzie and Linley; brothers and sisters, Lillian Mercier, Jean Beilman, Norman (Delpine) Kirwer, Carol (Florian) Stang and MaryAnn Pawluck; brothers and sisters in law, Sister Barbra Stang, Benny Miller, Rose (Jack) Fischer, August (Marla) Stang and Collette Stang; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
