In Loving Memory of
Beryl Eva Ward

May 22, 1938 – December 6, 2025

Beryl Eva Ward was born on May 22, 1938, in Sibley, Iowa, to Fred and Zella Backer. Her journey eventually led her to Prairie Bible Institute in Three Hills, Alberta, where she built friendships, deepened her faith, and began the path that would shape her life. It was there that she met Len, who was working for Kirk’s Heating at the time. They were married on October 7, 1961, at Mount Olive Church, just southwest of Three Hills.

Beryl was a woman of many gifts. She brought beauty into the world through music, playing several instruments with joy and grace. Her hands were seldom still. Sewing, crocheting, quilting, and crafting with love. She served her community proudly as President of the Coronation Music Festival, and as an active member of both the Women’s Institute and her church. Her creativity, dedication, and kindness touched countless lives.

Beryl passed away peacefully on December 6, 2025, at the Provost Health Centre, at the age of 87.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and faith.

She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her husband, Lenard; daughter, Sandra (Glenn) Schuetzle; son, Calvin (Donna) Ward; her five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; her sister, Bernetta; brother-in-law, Lowell Day; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Zella Backer; son, Charles; grandson, Craig Ward; brother, Byron; sister, Berene; brother-in-law, Robert Jardine; sister in law, Mary Lou Backer.
