Merle Alvin Taylor was born on December 6, 1933, in Provost, Alberta, to John and Wilma Taylor.

Merle passed away peacefully on December 11, 2025, at the Wainwright Health Centre – Long Term Care, at the age of 92 years.

Merle devoted his life to his farm, his faith, and his family—each of which he cherished deeply.

He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 68 years, Joyce; daughters Brenda (Ross) McGillivray, Dawn (Darrell) Ferguson, and Joan (Brian) Johnson; and son John Taylor (Kirsty Miskovich).
He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Darren, Ashley (Dana), Amber (Dalton), Shaun (Britney), Jessie, Kristen (Lee), and Ryan (Taylor); and his great-grandchildren Peyton, Mason, Autumn, Dakota, Sadie, Hailey, Isla, Callan, Maddox, Nash, Ainsley, Tenley, Paislyn, and Brylee.

Merle is also survived by his brother Clarence (Kathy) Taylor; brothers-in-law Lyle Rud and Herman McMann; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends.

He was predeceased by his siblings Gordon (Joy) and Colleen, and his sister-in-law Wanda McMann.

A funeral service for Merle will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Provost United Church, with Pastor Paul McCormick officiating. A private family interment will take place at the Provost Cemetery.
