Leonard Ellis Lawes was born on April 14, 1956, in Viking, Alberta. He was the youngest son of Jack and Ethel Lawes.

Leonard was predeceased by his parents, Jack and Ethel Lawes; his brother, Jack Lawes; and his brother-in-law, Bud Graham.

He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Tanya (Clay) McConnell and their children, Rhyatta, Sloan, and Messina; and Cody Jo Lawes and her daughter, Kenzlee; special friend and companion, Joanne Morrow;  his sisters, Irene Graham and Rosalie (Ron) Lawes; his brother, Melvin (Anita) Lawes; his sister-in-law, Donna; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Lenny was cowboy through and though. He was a long-time rodeo contestant, member, director and judge. He lived Rodeo every single day. In his younger years as bull rider and steer wrestler. As he aged team roper, board member, Judging director and Judge right up until this past summer.

Lenny spent several winters in Arizona Team roping. This was a passion he loved and a place that truly was his heaven here on earth.

Lenny also spent many hours around Auction Markets over the years. First in Vermilion as a yard foreman then later moving to Provost to work at Provost Livestock Exchange for before Transitioning to LIS as a Brand Inspector for the past 20 years.

Lenny touched many people over the years through his Rodeo travels and will be lovingly remembered by many whether its at a roping in AZ, sitting around a campfire at a Rodeo or stopping in for coffee at the market.

We will miss you and know you are in that country up there where the grass grows stirrup high and water runs cool, clear and deep. That they have said “Welcome Home Cowboy your entry fees are paid.”

A Celebration of Lenny's life will be held at a later date. Please check back for more details.
