Wendy Weinkauf

Obituary of Wendy Anne Weinkauf

Please share a memory of Wendy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with profound sadness that her family shares the news of the passing of Wendy Weinkauf on January 8, 2026. Wendy was born in Macklin, Saskatchewan on November 17, 1975, to John and Darlene Weinkauf - proving indeed to everyone that her parents kept trying until they got it right. The youngest of 5, Wendy remained the true baby of the family throughout her entire life, having many adventures and building memories with her mom and being the subject of relentless teasing by her two older brothers.

Wendy attended Macklin School, graduating in 1993. She then attended Augustana University in Camrose, earning her psychology degree in 1997. Wendy spent some time working at the Macklin Town Library and at the school in Provost before joining Prairie West College in Kindersley. Her time with the college brought her to Biggar for several years before returning to Macklin in 2009. The college closed shortly after her move, so Wendy spent some time “finding herself” before starting work at the Macklin Credit Union. In September of 2013, she joined the staff at Macklin School, uniting her love of reading with earning a paycheck.

Aside from reading, Wendy also deeply loved her family and friends. We always knew whatever we needed she would be there to share a hug, a story, some pepperoni rolls, fruit dip, and a laugh. Trips to Victoria, Mexico, and New York were highlights for her. Camping trips with her college friends and family brought her many happy memories. Wendy was truly a one-of-a-kind friend, always offering a listening ear and showering them with love. To call her an animal lover would be an understatement as she often adopted strays, much to the dismay of her father and brothers. Two special pets held her heart - her cats, Thumper and Boogey.

Auntie Wendy loved all of her nieces and nephews with her whole heart. She attended each and every event - traveling for basketball, volleyball, softball, baseball, dance or hockey and constantly cheered them on whenever she could. Auntie treasured her time with each of them and they always knew she was in their corner, no matter where they went. Each Christmas, she poured her heart into making each of them ornaments - something they will treasure dearly.

Wendy was a dedicated Kinette - a source of great pride for her. Her family and friends were thrilled to support her when she was awarded a life membership in 2017. The friends she made throughout her time as a Kinette were near and dear to her heart. Her work for Kinsmen was not only at the local level as a member of the Macklin Kinettes, she also served on the Kinsmen Foundation Board, the Kin Canada Board, was Deputy Governor, and a member of the Telemiracle Committee. Despite detesting winter and snow, she looked forward to March every year for Telemiracle.

Wendy will be lovingly remembered by her mother Darlene, brothers Garnett (Nikki) and Jim (Cynthia), nieces Kim (Riley), Emma, Reese (Brock), nephews Tyler, Ryan (Savanah), Tony, Noah, and great-niece Katherine as well as many extended relatives and loving friends.

She was predeceased by her sisters Corinna and Janet, her father John, and grandparents Joe, Katherine, and Elizabeth. Board and card games will not be the same without her, she will be deeply missed.

A funeral service for Wendy will be held later this year, when family and friends can gather to celebrate her life. She was never a fan of winter, so waiting for warmer weather feels like the right way to choose a day to come together and honour her.
