Obituary of Laura Christine Hope

Laura Christine “Chris” Hope was born on December 10, 1956, in Provost, Alberta, to Ralph and Aletha Maull. She was raised on the family farm near Metiskow, where she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and deep love for family that would shape the rest of her life.

On July 5, 1975, Chris married Rick Hope, and together they built their life at the Hope Ranch - a place she cherished and proudly called home for the rest of her days.

Chris was a loving mother and an adoring grandma. While she treasured the rhythms and rewards of farm life, her greatest joy was always found in the company of her family. Whether around the kitchen table, at family gatherings, or simply sharing everyday moments, Chris’s warmth and steady support were constant gifts to those she loved. Her children and grandchildren will forever carry with them the comfort of her encouragement, her laughter, and the unconditional love she gave.

Chris passed away on February 17, 2026, in Edmonton, Alberta, at the age of 69 years.

She will be forever loved and deeply missed by her husband, Rick; her sons, J.R. (Jessica) Hope and Shawn Hope; and her beloved grandchildren, Ty (Karlin), Kallee, and Javier. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Hilson (Linda) Maull; her sisters, Francie (Dave) Laporte and Sherry (Bill) Creech; her sisters-in-law, Marg (Chas) Watson, Janet Todd, and Judy (Ed) Hope-Clark; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Chris was predeceased by her parents, Ralph and Aletha Maull; parents in law, Ernie and Mable Hope; and her brother-in-law, Rod Todd.

Family and friends are warmly invited to gather in celebration of Chris’s life on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Czar Cultural & Rec Centre, with Pastor Eleanor Ness officiating. Interment will follow at the Czar Cemetery. For those unable to attend in person, a livestream of the service will be available through the GFH website.
