Owen David Bethge

Owen David Bethge was born on July 21, 2011, in Viking, Alberta, to Shane and Jennifer Bethge. Following in the footsteps of his older brother, Dawson, Owen developed a love for the outdoors at an early age. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and all the adventures that come with growing up in a small town. When winter arrived, Owen looked forward to spending his time on the ice, playing one of his greatest passions, hockey.

On Tuesday, June 23, 2026, Owen passed away suddenly near Wainwright, Alberta, at the age of 14 years.

Owen will be lovingly missed and forever remembered by his parents, Shane and Jennifer Bethge; his brother, Dawson; his grandparents, Irvin and Donna Bethge, and Barry and Donna Kaye; his uncles, Steven (Amber) Bethge his son and step daughter, Evan and Lexa; Sheldon Bethge; and David (Kristy) Kaye and their daughters, Aubrey and Everly. He will also be dearly remembered by his honorary grandparents, Rob and Kathy Day; his honorary uncle and aunt, Murray and Trudi Weber, and their children, Marli and Ryley; as well as numerous other relatives, friends, teammates, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Funeral Service to honour and celebrate Owen's life will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Wainwright Elks Hall.
