Obituary of Grant Hyde

Please share a memory of Grant to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Grant (James) Hyde passed away on June 25, 2026 at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at the age of 66 years.

Grant (James) Hyde was born on February 7, 1960, in Kindersley to RD and Doris Hyde.  He was the second youngest of five children. Grant was a busy child: playing sports and getting into trouble in Brock when he wasn’t helping at his parent’s grocery store.   He graduated High School in 1978 and started a career he loved at the elevator in Netherhill, Saskatchewan.  Netherhill is where he met the love of his life, Susan, and they married June 16, 1984.  Grant continued his career as an elevator agent but filled his life with friends and family.  Grant was always busy: working, camping, coaching, gardening and spending time with friends and family.  Grant loved to be around people and people loved to be around Grant. Grant could and would visit with anyone he met—he loved to share stories and learn about those around him.  His nieces and nephews always could count on Uncle Grant to spill the family secrets and tell them anything they ever wondered about.  Grant was the very best Uncle, and his nieces and nephews can attest he was always up for anything, loved them beyond measure and very much deserved the title of FAVOURITE UNCLE.

Then, on November 21, 1999, Grant and Susan completed their family with the gift of Ryan. Grant took to fatherhood like everyone knew he would.  He and Ryan were best buddies and spent so much quality time skiing, boating, camping, biking, travelling, golfing, fixing, building and just being together. Grant loved doing anything with Ryan and especially loved traveling back to Laporte to help Ryan on his acreage helping with anything that needed to be done.  Grant, Sus and Ryan spent so much time together and had the best relationship.

Grant and Sus moved to Provost in 2004 where Grant tried his hand at a couple more careers after he retired from the elevator.  Grant eventually did retire completely, and he enjoyed retirement but still wanted to keep busy working part-time doing maintenance.  He loved doing this but mostly loved doing it in Provost. Provost is where they found home—both location and people.  Grant and Sus are blessed with friends who are like family—all of whom will miss Grant dearly.

Grant was predeceased by his parents: RD and Doris Hyde; father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Lorayne Rachul; sister-in-law, Claire Hyde; nephews, Curtis Hyde and Brad Jollimore; and his niece, Andrea Hyde.  Left to continue loving him are his wife, Susan; son, Ryan (Ava); siblings: Ron (Marion); Sandra (Brian); David and Dale; in-laws: Peggy (Dave); Dwayne (Brenda); Karen (Keith) and numerous nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews and even great-great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life for Grant will be held at the Brock Hall and Community Center on Monday, July 27, 2026 a 1:00 pm. The family welcomes anyone to share stories and memories of Grant during the celebration.
