Obituary of Janet Alice Riseley

Please share a memory of Janet to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Janet Alice Riseley was born October 18, 1938, in Huxley, Alberta. She was the fourth oldest daughter of Jesse and Walter Chapman, born eighth in line of a total of ten children.

Her early years were spent growing up in Rossland, B.C. and going to school until Grade 9. She helped her family by cooking, cleaning, and household chores. She skated for recreation and attended Church and Sunday School. Babysitting and cleaning house for a local retailer earned her pocket money.

On June 27, 1959, Janet married Jack Riseley in Rossland, British Columbia.  After a short honeymoon, they began their life together on the Riseley Family Farm, 15 miles north of Provost, Alberta.

Sadly, Janet quietly passed away on February 25, 2024, at the Provost Health Centre-Long Term Care, at the age of 85 years.

Janet will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Miriam (Randy) James, Allan (Terry) Riseley, and Christine (Dave) Van Aanhout; grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Riseley, Dayna (Derrick) Lantz, Krisopher Riseley, Morgan (Ryley) Fossen, and Sean (Stephanie) Van Aanhout; great grandchildren, Rayna, Rikkel, & Cambree Riseley; Haven & Beckett Lantz; Oliver & Zoey Riseley; and Harlyn Fossen; sisters, Dorothy Filippelli, Ruth (Len) Ohlde, and Anne (Marvin) Neil; brothers, Garnet (Shirley) Chapman and Ted (Lydia) Chapman; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.

A funeral for Janet will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. at the Provost United Church with Pastor Paul McCormick officiating. Interment to follow at the Provost Cemetery.
