Steven Jeffery Giggs passed away peacefully on the morning of March 1, 2024, in Red Deer, Alberta. His children were with him in his final days. He was taken care of by the lovely, devoted, and caring staff, Nurses, HCAs at Bethany College side, Red Deer, Alberta. Special thanks to* “Charlie” the resident cat who Dad loved, stayed by Dad’s side for his last days, providing us all with comfort.

Steven was born to Margaret (Ferrier) and Leonard (Victor) Giggs in Provost, Alberta. He grew up on his family’s farm near Chauvin, Alberta. Steven had three brothers, older brother Victor Giggs, whom he looked up to, younger brother Collin Giggs, whom he was very protective of and a baby brother who died in infancy. He also had a younger sister, Laurel, whom he always had a special, loving place in his heart for. Steven loved sports cars and racing around, gaining the nickname, the “Cadogan Kid.” He attended school in Chauvin, Alberta, graduating high school in 1970.

Steven married Marlene Clementine Bichel (parents Rose (Kohlman) and Anthony Bichel of Cactus Lake, Saskatchewan), April 15,1972 at the Provost United Church. Together they had three children, Warren Jeffrey Giggs (October 20, 1972) Heather Rose Giggs (April 2,1976) and Bradley Douglas Giggs (December 30, 1980). Steve and Marlene transferred around Alberta, (Provost, Lethbridge, Calgary, Edmonton) where Steven was the manager at many construction/hardware stores all while attending Sait within that period in a business program. In 1984, the family moved to Alix where Steve Managed the Chain Lakes Gas Co-Op. The family moved to Rimbey in 1988, where Steven managed the lumber department at the Rimbey gas co-op.

Steve was an adventurer at heart. He was very well read and could read an enjoyable book in a day as well as a lover of music; always having his favourite tunes playing such as the Beach boys, Blue Rodeo, and other classics. He loved to be out on the lake boating and skiing. The mountains were always a place he loved to venture to. He enjoyed taking his kids camping all over our beautiful province of Alberta.
