Obituary of Shirley Marina Seeger

Shirley Marina Seeger was born on November 18, 1934, in Hardisty, Alberta to parents, Percy and Erna (nee Holtz) Sheen. She was one of the seven children born to this family.

On April 11, 1955, Shirley married Paul “Harold” Seeger and together they had five children of their own. They raised their family together in Youngstown, Alberta, until Harold passed away in 1974. In 1976, Shirley moved the family to Hughenden, Alberta, where she would continue to live until her final move to the Wainwright Health Centre Long Term Care.

Shirley loved to garden, bake, and just feed everyone she could. Whether it was family, friends, or a stray animal, everyone got fed at Shirley’s house. She enjoyed playing cards, going to bingos and auction sales, and spending time with family and friends.

On April 27, 2024, Shirley passed away at the Wainwright Health Centre Long Term Care at the age of 89 years.

She will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Debbie Brost, Donna (Irvin) Bethge, Barb (Allan) Black, Rodger Seeger, and Kathy Seeger; grandchildren, Nicole (Wade), Trevor (Kendra), Chris (Jessica), Tyler (Justine), Steven (Amber), Shane (Jennifer), Sheldon, Kim (Sidney), Brenda, Vincent (Tara), and Victoria (Austin); 16 great grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Harold; parents, Percy and Erna; brothers, Rick and Pete; sisters, Joan (Dennis) Abbot, Edna (Ralph) Hansen, Muriel (David) Hood, and Doreen (Nelson) Heisler; niece, Darlene Doll; fur baby, Ginger.

Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of fellowship, story telling, and refreshments on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Golden Circle in Hughenden, Alberta. A private family interment will take place at the Lakeview Cemetery.
