Obituary of Jack Mervin McCluskey
Please share a memory of Jack to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Jack Mervin McCluskey was born on October 5, 1958, in Wainwright, Alberta to parents, Mervin and Cecile.
Jack went to school in Chauvin, Alberta. After graduating from the Chauvin School, Jack went on to work for CN for about 10 years and really enjoyed his time on the railroad. During this time, Jack bought his first mobile home in Chauvin, and it soon became the “after hours bar.” In 1984, with the help of his Uncle Dennis, Jack decided to move his mobile home to the farm, where he would begin to farm with his dad.
In 1991, Jack met Ruth and her daughter, Linda, and a family was born. In 1993, his sister Val and her family moved onto the family farm, where Val quickly became free farm help. Jack’s proudest moments were when his grandchildren, Ty “Ty Man” and Tess “Tess Girl” entered the world. Jack loved to spoil them, like grandpas should do. He had such a natural connection with kids, they were always drawn to him, so becoming a grandpa was the perfect fit.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his close family and friends. Yearly fishing trips became the norm and many great memories were made. He also loved the farm, so leaving the farm for any length of time was tough for him. When health issues became too much, Jack enjoyed more of a ranch style farm where he enjoyed raising cattle.
Jack’s infectious laugh and smile will be missed by all his family and friends.
Jack passed away on August 11, 2024, at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 65 years.
Jack will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by his daughter, Linda (Bob) Denny; grandchildren, Ty and Tess; sisters, Kim (Don) MacPhee and Val Dunbar; nieces and nephews, Savanna MacPhee, JD MacPhee, Chelsey (Shawn) Marchand and their children, Landon & James, Joshua (Karrah) Rebalkin and their son, Miller; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, Mervin and Cecile.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a time of fellowship and refreshments at Jack’s farm on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. Jack wanted to create an opportunity for his close family and friends to gather, so please come dressed comfortably and prepared to visit and share stories.
