My great & fun uncle Matt will be missed. He always had fun with us young kids growing up. He found and did things that were exciting to us. From trapping & caging foxes at one point, wild turkeys another time, letting us ride the tractor and drive/steer the car & more. Showing us the fish pond and just letting us hang around with him and kinda "help" a bit with some chores. I loved him. He was a kind & very good soul. Rest in peace Uncle Matt. - Harv Schneider.

To the Fischer family,
Our most sincere and deepest condolences on your loss. We remember your dad fondly from our time living in the St. Donatus area, it was always a pleasure to visit with him and your mom. There was never a dull moment in their company.
With sympathy, Brenda and Lyle Stang

One of my fond memories of Matt date back to when he was courting Ursula. It was at the St. Peter’s annual church picnic. As the activities of the day were winding down, the booth inventory was auctioned off. I recall Alex Sieben gained some notoriety with his creative auctioneer line, “Ice Cream! Ice Cream! Ladies and Gentlemen! Step right up. Get a 5 cent scoop for only 10 cents!” A short while later a half-ton drove up with Matt and Ursula and Ursula’s friend and date. Matt got out of the truck and wanted to buy something at the sale. By then everything was gone except wiener buns. So Matt bought a package of wiener buns, stuck one in his mouth and walked back to the truck and treated the rest to wiener buns! That’s when I first found out who he was and, little did I know, that some day he would become my brother-in-law.
What struck Vera and I the most when visiting Matt and Ursula in their home is that they would always make sure everyone was comfortable and looked after. You were really made to feel at home! ❤️ We really enjoyed playing buck together, too.
Our sincerest condolences to the family.

My heartfelt condolences to the family during this sad and difficult time.
I remember Uncle Matt and Aunt Ursula coming to the Island to visit us. Herb asked
Uncle Matt if he was ready to retire from farming yet and Uncle Matt’s reply with a big
smile and a laugh was “No, I’m not quite broke yet!” He too, had an entertaining sense
of humour as did Aunt Ursula. I feel blessed to have had both of them in my life.
I am thinking of you and your loss.
Love to all of you.❤️

Uncle Matt you will be missed. Our fond memories of you were always the ones of you smiling, laughing and having fun with family. I always remember you as a hard worker who always put his family first. I will always remember your place on the farm and the fun I had jumping on and off of hay bales as a kid. I remember the road from grandma and grandpa’s place to yours and how there was this huge dip in the road, and as a kid when that road was muddy it sure made it an interesting ride! Sending our love and sincerest condolences to the family.
