Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Prestlien

Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully to be with her loving Heavenly Father on November 10, 2011 in Red Deer, Alberta. Mary Elizabeth (Sample) Wilson Prestlien was born on May 10, 1914 to Andrew G. and Hazel C. Sample in Ibstone, Saskatchewan. Mary was the fourth of eight children - one boy and seven girls. She married Louis G. Wilson on October 2, 1933 at Cut Knife, Saskatchewan. Together they had seven children. Louis and Mary spent many years in and around the Cold Lake/Bonnyville area. After living near Vermilion for about four years, they moved to Edmonton for another four years. They finally settled on a farm near Hughenden. Louis passed away on March 22, 1956. Mary later married Elster L. Prestlien on November 25, 1963 They lived on a ranch near Hughenden, Alberta until retirement in 1974. At this time they moved to Kelowna, B.C. where they enjoyed the Okanagan Valley. In 1978 Elster and Mary moved to Wetaskiwin. They moved to Shepherd's Care Condo, Edmonton in 1999, their last home together. During their years of retirement Elster and Mary traveled extensively. Elster passed away on September 26, 2005. Mary spent her last few years at the Sylvan Lake Lodge where she enjoyed life and had many wonderful friends. Mary is survived by her sons, David, Henry (Erna), Frank (Marie), Donald (Debra) and Leonard (Sue); daughter, Darlene; grandchildren, Jerry, Delmar, Bradley, Craig, Kelly, Janice, Daniel, Darla, Michael, Patricia, David, Andrew, Scott, Gary, Taylor, Timothy, Chris, Angela, Errol, Charmaine and Shane; forty seven great grandchildren & several great great grandchildren; sister, Edna; as well as many nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter, Hazel (Bud) Lonsdale; grandson, Darryl; brother, Andrew; sisters, Frances, Hazel, Zella, Alice and Glenna
