Obituary of Arliegh David Earl Potter
Please share a memory of Arliegh to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Arliegh David Earl was born the 7th of nine children on January 28, 1940 to Jim and Luella Potter in the Kennedy District, Saskatchewan. He passed away July 19, 2013 in Coronation, Alberta, as he was enroute from Drumheller to Provost, with plans of making Provost his home, at 73 years of age.
Arliegh began schooling at Brookside then went to Moosomin in 1948. There he schooled until he finished seventh grade. Leaving school allowed him to work on the family farm with his dad, as well as other farms but his true passion was revealed when he began driving truck. First for Hills Transport when he was 18, then with his brothers, Bob, Wilfred, and Mel. Even though driving truck occupied his working days, we will always remember Arliegh as a loving husband, father, grandfather but most of all coach from near and afar. His heart was worn loosely on his sleeve, as he was very compassionate, understanding, sympathetic and loving towards all of his family and friends.
Arliegh will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by the love of his life for 36 years, Margaret; their two companions, Monte and Shasta; children, David (Shelley), Trevor, Terry-Lynne (Barry), Arlette (Trent), Barry (Sandy), and Della; grandchildren, Lindsay, Kelsie, Candace, Terrance, Travis, Chad, Kristin, Ashley, Calin, Machaela, Lauren, Michael, and Tyren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Shirley (Dave) Moore, and Verna (Don) McGonigal; brothers and sisters in law, Carol (Vern) Schultz, James (Judy) Shepherd, Ray (Karen) Shepherd, and Lynne LeBlanc; as well as many extended family and friends.
Arliegh was predeceased by his parents, Jim & Luella Potter; and siblings, Isabelle, Edna, Muriel, Wilfred, Bob, and Mel.
