Obituary of Joseph Stang
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph was born August 21, 1924 on the farm near Cosine, Saskatchewan. Joe passed away on December 6, 2011 at the St. Joseph's Health Centre, Macklin, Saskatchewan.
Joe worked on the family farm from an early age. He spent winters working in lumber camps until he started with the CNR and later the CPR in Salvador, Cavel, Major, Evesham, Senlac and Provost. He retired in 1986 after a very dedicated and hard working career.
Joe was a very proud father and an endearing grandfather with a mild and gentle demeanor. He always loved music and his first instrument was a violin. He played the drums, clarinet and also, the saxophone in various bands for many years. A good tune always brought out a huge smile and he'd be tapping to the beat. He also had a love for horses which he developed at a very young age and he was always ready for a game of cards.
After fifty years of marriage, Joe became a widower and since then he had the pleasure of living in the Eatonia Oasis, the Villa Marie, Kindersley LTC, and lastly the St. Joseph's Health Centre. It was here that Joe was blessed to be among some wonderful friends and the most caring and compassionate care givers.
His loving memory will be cherished by his daughters, Joanne (Norbert) Rolheiser and Carol Schuler; grandchildren, Brandon Rolheiser, Kristin (Brad) Brown, and Tamara Schuler; brother Jack, and sister Clementine (Alex) Kohlman. Joe will be sadly missed by all those who had the pleasure to know him.
Joe was predeceased by his wife, of fifty years, Marie.
