Obituary of Bruc Harmesynn

Bruc was born in Calgary on June 6, 1947 to Josephine and Lester Harmeson. He was one of 5 boys and 5 girls including his twin sister Dianne. Bruc graduated high school in 1965, then attended Mount Royal College, after which he continued to work at numerous jobs around Calgary for the next few years. He lived with his Mom after his Dad passed away in 1967, until his Mom followed by passing away in July of 1978. Slightly nomadic, he lived with friends and brothers until he found his way to his 'family' in Provost in 1989, Carol, the love of his life and children, Shannon and Rob who were 13 and 12 years old at the time. In the beginning of their life together, Bruc and Carol were very active and enjoyed slowpitch, bowling, fishing, hunting, canoeing and playing with the little black cocker spaniel Kally. Bruc also loved his 'kids' Shannon and Rob, one of the best parts of his life (his words). Later, Bruc enjoyed spending time with his grandkids, Lawrence, Hunter, Ryker and Jaxi, whom he adored and loved very much. He also loved the trips to Mexico, California, Arizona and many more wonderful places he and Carol visited. In 2006 he planned a surprise trip for Carol to Niagara Falls where he made her his wife on June 13. Although only married for 8 short years their journey started 25 years ago. Bruc first started working in Provost for Warriner Ford as car salesmen. From there he shifted gears to the booming oilfield where he worked for years until 2002 when they purchased the local movie theatre, Reel Entertainment. Bruc loved the people and through his easy going manner developed the respect and love of a small community. His battle with cancer was short but courageous and he always stayed positive. He was diagnosed in May of 2013, but never gave up. Bruc passed away at home in Provost on Thursday, March 6, 2014. Bruc leaves to mourn; his wife, Carol; daughter, Shannon (Paul) Gale & their son, Lawrence; son, Robert Farrish & his children, Hunter, Ryker and Jaxi; siblings Evelyn Oades, Buck (Arlene) Harmeson, Verl Harmeson, Lawnie (Sherri) Harmesynn, Jeanette (George) Hofer, Donna Steman, Dianne (Lewis) Ingram, Clifford (Donna) Harmeson and many nieces, nephews and their children; mother-in-law, Emilia Rab (aka Shorty to Bruc); brothers-in-law, Ed (Muriel) Rab, Richard (Deb) Rab, Rob (Darla) Rab; many nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Bruc was predeceased by his mom and dad; sister, Beverly (Pinky) McGregor; brother-in-law, Bill Steman; and nephews, Eugene Harmeson and Daryl Murdick.
