You will not know who we are, but we were residents in Fortuna De Oro, and were present at the Farewell party on March 22. Last night, April 2, while playing at a jam session in Wetaskiwin, a fellow musician, Foster Barton, mentioned that a friend of his and his wife Phyllis had died on the dance floor in Yuma. Although we did not know Charlie, we had heard his name mentioned March 22. Now we feel like we knew him. Please accept our condolences from a fellow snowbird. Everyone said he was a great guy.16

We are deeply saddened to hear of Charlie's passing. Our hearts go out to his family. He was a wonderful kind and caring person. Charlie was the first person I met when I entered the Irma school on my first day of work there. I still remember his big friendly smile. Some us commuted to Irma and carpooled with Charlie. His wit and humor kept us laughing, and made the trip seem shorter. He was a great mentor to his students. He will be greatly missed by all, but not forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with you. Charlie was a great teacher and caring human being. He taught my sister Jean and myself, Gladys Faulkner, at Willow View school in 1954-55. It was his first school to teach at after his 6 week tenure at University. He was only 19 years old. He stayed at my parents home (Debs and Harriet Faulkner) and rode horseback to school with Jean and I. In the spring and fall months we used to get our work done as soon as we could , then we all went out to play ball in the pasture by the school- what a welcome change from boring school work. In the winter he used to set snares to catch weasels and rabbits. We always checked these on our way home from school. Since Jean and I didn't have a brother he seemed like a good big brother to us. I will always remember the good times we had at school that year. R.I.P. Charlie and thanks for the memories.

Charlie always had a smile that would light up my heart, he told me once that he saved that special ability for only certain people, I truly was blessed! He was so proud of his family and loved you all so much, keep each other close at this difficult time!!
