Darcy enjoyed introducing his city in-laws to rural Alberta life. One wet and chilly night, we "helped" them to unload cattle just arrived from grazing land in the North West Territories. My husband, Mike, was positioned to direct them as they came off the truck. Thinking it would encourage a stalled animal to continue moving, he gave it an abrupt pat on the rear end and immediately found himself 10 feet away on his back looking up at the rainy sky! Darcy sauntered over, looked down, and with typical understatement wryly said, "Mike, I don't think you want to do that."

Dear Karen, Andy, Darryl and Calvin: I have such wonderful memories of riding on the tractor with Darcy at Christmas about 15 years ago - I was 7 with a broken arm in cast and he let me drive the tractor. For a city boy from London - it was a thrill and of course, we hit something and I cut my lip.. My Mum was worried, but it was a really really great time. I only have the happiest thoughts when I think of you all and hope this short but very positive memory provides you with strength and support during this very difficult time.
