Obituary of Roger Kenneth Jickling

Roger Kenneth Jickling was born in Provost, Alberta on February 22, 1932 to Lawrence and Alice (Knudsen) Jickling. After being raised a farm boy on the Jickling family farm near Cadoga,n Roger sought adventure through a variety of work opportunities, including time in the oilfield in Drayton Valley, Woodwards department store in Edmonton, running the store in Cairns and drycleaning in Calgary where he met and married Fay. To this union came two children and with family in tow, they came back to the Knudsen homestead south of Provost to farm and raise quarter horses. Throughout all his life he made great friends. Roger also found a love of serving his community, evident through the years of service with the Lion's Club. Roger served with the Lion's in Provost until this Club closed in 2010. On Tuesday, December 16, 2014 Roger passed away at Provost Health Centre - Long Term Care at 82 years of age. Roger will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by his children, Sharlene & Carl Young and Ken Jickling; grandchildren, Patrick (Whitney), Johny and Marc; brother, Albert Jickling of Provost; sister, Mildred Chrysler of Kamloops, BC; as well as many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Lawrence and Alice; sister, Ruby (Ron) Clifford; sister in law, Avis Jickling; and brother in law, Brian Chrysler.
