My husband Ray called Uncle Rudy a " True Gentleman". Ray always enjoyed visiting with Uncle Rudy and listening to his interesting stories. He loved his good nature and deep hearty laugh ! I will always cherish the memories of celebrating Uncle Rudy's birthday on the farm as a child ! Such a happy and fun celebration ! Aunt Paula's wonderful cooking was so special as well ! There always seemed to be a winter storm but we always made it there and home eventually ! Great memories!
I will always hold a special place in my heart for the times Uncle Rudy and Aunt Paula were always there to help mom and dad through some of the hard times of their life. Uncle Rudy was always there to provide support.
We shall miss him!!

I just lost my friend! I have memories of Rudy from very early in my life, from spray painting the roof of our house in Cactus Lake to playing baseball at all the church picnics with his brothers in law, but the fondest, most recent memories are of our many hunting adventures in the Cactus Lake, Cosine and Macklin areas. There was many hours of story telling, spotting geese, hunting and of course sharing conversation with the likes of Mr. Wiser, Gibson and their companions. The special place which will be remembered forever is at the top of a hill southwest of Cactus Lake. I go there often, and will continue to do so, knowing my friend will be there with me.
I do not recall ever seeing Rudy without a smile, and most often his robust laugh could be heard above the gathering of the boys. My memory of him will never be flawed. Even though he was afew years older than myself, I found him to be as close as many of the friends my own age. We shared a lot of laughter and good times.
Rudy and his wonderful wife always made me feel like family. Paula spent so much of her time getting things ready for the "Big Breakfast" which we all looked forward to. There was many a great sumptuous feast enjoyed by a happy gang of hunters and neighbors. Often, Paula would be joined by my mother and Betty Hollman, adding a delightful bit of color to our group.
To Rudy's entire family I offer my deepest sympathy, for I know the extent of your loss.
To you my departed friend......We shall meet again!

I was shocked to hear Uncle Rudy's passing - I did not realize he was ill. Uncle Rudy was always so good to mom, stopping by for many visits after dad passed away - he had a very special place in her heart. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this very difficult time. As you all know, Rudy was a great fisherman,but he was also a great Hunter and we enjoyed dozens of Goose hunts over the years.Most of all Rudy and Paula we entertainers.The welcome mat was always out wheather they knew you or not.
I only really got to know Rudy when my brother Bob moved back to Saskatoon and we started the yearly trek to Cactus Lake in the late 70's September for some R & R and 5 days of Goose Hunting. Bob and I and some of our friends used to hang out and spot birds from the big hill south of their farm.Rudy found out about this and in 1980,we did a morning breakfast on the hill.There might have been 10-12 poeple there.We nearly froze out butts off that morning.
Well the next year that we came out,we hooked up with Rudy and drove up to the hill.What do you think Rudy had done?He took a chain saw and a lawm mower up there and Cleared out a big opening in the center of that big bush.He put in a fire pit and tarped around for a wind barrier,and so began the Goose Breakfast that lasted almost 20 years.
Every year on the second or third morning of the hunt,we would load up with all the great food that Paula had prepared and up the hill we went.There was always plenty of refreshments(if you know what I mean).That breakfast would last all day and Rudy had invited all of his neighbours for miles around.Most of whom have passed on now.We will miss you dearly our friend.You will be with us forever.Rest in peace.Jim,Bob, Bruce Baier and friends.
