Obituary of Joy Arleen Taylor

Please share a memory of Joy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joy Arleen Taylor was born June 14, 1942 in Calgary, Alberta. At the age of six months, Joy was adopted by John & Gladys Watson of Frank, Alberta. She was the second adopted by the family, her older brother, Earl, was the first. Joy enjoyed life at Frank, spending hours watching the bears eat at the dump. She also loved to ride the tractor with her brother at harvest time. Joy had moved to Provost and was working at the Esso as a waitress when she met Gordon Taylor; they were married June 2, 1960. To this union came two children: March 1, 1962 brought Roy to the couple and his younger sister, Sherri, joined the family June 10, 1964. The family moved to Calgary where Joy volunteered at the school while Gordon worked around Alberta until 1976 when they moved back to Provost to continue with the backhoe business, Joy would bring lunches and watch ditches (she hated this job). Most summers they would pack up the kids and take a vacation to the states where fun was had by all. When not on vacation but still wanting to be together as family, Joy packed up the kids and followed Gordon all around the country while he worked. Later in years the kids had families of their own and Joy loved playing games with the grandchildren. More recently, Gordon developed cancer and Joy devoted her time to looking after him until he passed. The kids then talked their Mom into buying an SUV and decided to take a family vacation to B.C.. After returning, Joy found out that she too was battling cancer. Her daughter, Sherri, took leave from work and moved Mom to Rocky Mountain House, where she lived enjoying the grandchildren until her health took a turn for the worse and she passed away in the Rocky Mountain House Health Centre, with her family by her side on March 21, 2015 at 72 years of age. Joy will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her children, Roy (Monica) Taylor of Cadogan, and Sherri (Tim) Herle of Rocky Mountain House; grandchildren, Kim (Travis), Brandon, Jen (Eddy), Kristin (Curtis), and Nick (Paige); great-grandchildren, Sam, Domanick, Brooklynn, Ava and Neveah; great-great-grandchildren, Urijah and Cayden; brothers-in-law, Clarence (Cathy) Taylor and Merle (Joyce) Taylor; as well as many extended relatives and friends. Joy was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; parents, John & Gladys Watson; parents-in-law, John & Wilma Taylor; brother, Earl (Florence); sister-in-law, Colleen; niece, Denise; and nephew, Jimmy.
