Obituary of Kenneth Ralph Weatherly
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kenneth "Ken" Ralph Weatherly was born October 27, 1948 in Provost, AB to Arnold and Gertrude Weatherly. Ken lived all his life in the Metiskow, Czar, Provost area. He suddenly passed away at home in Provost on March 28, 2015 at 66 years of age.
Ken was working like an adult by the time he was 14, and his hard work ethic continued. His family was very important to him and he worked hard to provide them with the best. He helped build the Sulphate Plant in Metiskow, worked there for two years and was then appointed manager by age 24. He later worked for the Provost School Board. He was a self-taught engineer and in his time off he built many decks, rebuilt houses for himself and others, helped his friends with ranch work and anything else they needed. He loved history of the early explorers and the native Canadians and looked forward to good conversations about this with others. He learned many of his skills from his special Uncle Carl Melin while helping him construct homes. Ken was an avid fisherman and bird and game big hunter. His fishing trips to Cranberry River, to name one, were some of his best times. He did skillful leather and rawhide braiding even when his vision was eluding him. Even though Ken was a hard, self-motivated worker, we will remember that he was a loyal, devoted, respectful, honest, friend, employee and employer.
Ken is survived by his beloved partner, Jean; his children, Nicole Weatherly, Shelley Kapraelian, her husband and two daughters, his son Edward; Jean's daughter, Jennifer Jenkins (Jeff); brothers-in-law, Howard Smith and Dave (Maxine) Todd and Dave's family; aunts, Carol Melin and Mary Weatherly; many cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Ken will be greatly missed by his family and granddaughters and by his many friends.
Ken was predeceased by his parents and four siblings; Raymond Weatherly, Larry Weatherly, Lynette Weatherly and Lyla Smith.
