Obituary of Herbert Manchester

Please share a memory of Herbert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Herbert Grant Manchester was born February 21, 1935, the first of three children to George and Mathilda "Tillie". His brother, Wallace, was born in 1936 followed by his sister, Roberta in 1938. He lived on the Manchester homestead since then. It was there that he began his lifelong career as a farmer. In 1941 he attended school at Cotswold School (directly across the road from his farm) until it's closure in 1949. He then attended Evesham School until 1953, then the balance of his schooling took place at Senlac. He purchased his Huskymobile Snowmobile in 1953, the first snowmobile in the district. This unit transported the three siblings to school during the winters and also helped out neighbors when called upon for assistance. In 1952 he started operating a tractor mounted snowplow for the Community Plow Club. Then, in 1965 a truck plow was purchased and he operated this unit until two years before the club dissolved in the early '80's. Grant took over the farming operations in 1960 and remained on the farm until just last year. He raised both cattle and grain during his time there. On July 27, 1962 Grant married Eileen Kluck, daughter of Julius and Anne Kluck. To this happy union were born three sons, Thomas (1963), Scott (1965), and Clint (1972); whom are the fourth generation to farm the homestead. In addition to his love of farming, Grant was a man of family and friends. He curled a little in his earlier years but his real pasttimes were hunting, fishing and spending time with Eileen and the children. He seldom turned down a chance to go on a fishing trip with friends. He liked to visit and spent many hours talking with relatives, friends and strangers alike. At the age of 80, Grant passed away peacefully with family by his side at Unity Health Centre. The world's losing a great son, a man, a father. We loved him dearly but God loves him more. He will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by his wife of nearly 53 years, Eileen (nee: Kluck); children and their families, Tom (Cathy) and their children, Andy (Chantell) with their daughter, Brittin; Cody (Krista) with their children, Leyna & Kylee Manchester and Donavyn & Jayden Meadows; Shareen (Lorne) Geer with their daughter Hailey; Scott (Tammy) and their children, Madison & Nolan Manchester and Curtis, Matthew & Caitlyn Butchart; and Clinton (Jill); brother, Wallace (Edna); sister, Bert Agar (Fred Plotnikoff); as well as numerous nieces and nephews and extended relatives. Grant was predeceased by his parents, George & Tillie; parents-in-law, Julius Kluck & Anne (Tom McDowell); daughter-in-law, Tanya Manchester; and brother-in-law, Wilf Gammel. Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard but always near. Still loved, still missed, but held so dear.
