Obituary of Carol Sylvia Berg

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sylvia "Carol" Berg was born January 28, 1924 at the farm - the Porter Ranch - in Czar, Alberta to Leta and Will Porter. Carol was the youngest of four children born to this union. She attended Birdsview School from Grades 1-8, then went to Horsehaven for 2 years and taking some correspondence prior to finishing Grade XII in Provost in 1943. Carol worked in the M.D. Office until the fall of 1951, which was only months after her July 1, 1951 marriage to Alfred "Martin" Berg. Carol & Martin were blessed with five children and eventually welcomed many grandchildren into their family. They also enjoyed traveling to many places in the U.S.; especially enjoying Reno & Vegas. Carol was a proud member of the Hospital Auxiliary and continued to do so until Parkinson's and cataracts kept her from being able to do so. At 91 years of age, Carol passed away on Monday, June 29, 2015 while residing at Provost Health Center- Long Term Care. Carol will be dearly missed and forever remembered by her sons; Darwin (Elaine), Terry (Lorrie) and Corin (Julie); grandchildren; Krista, Siera, Felicia, Adam, Megan, Carter, Monica and Spencer; as well as numerous extended family and friends. Carol was predeceased by her husband, Martin; daughter, Wendy; son, Lanny; brother, Dean (Doris) Porter; sisters, Ruby (Harold) Almberg and Winona (Walter) Kvill. Our mother kept a garden, a garden of the heart, She planted all the good things that gave our life its start. She turned us to the sunshine and encouraged us to dream, Fostering and nurturing the seed of self-esteem. And when the winds and rains came, she protected us enough - But not too much - she knew we'd need to stand up strong and be tough. Her constant good example always taught us right from wrong Markers for our pathway that will last a lifetime long. We are our mother's garden, We are her legacy - And we hope today she feels the love reflected back from us.
