Obituary of Marcia Marion Heck
Please share a memory of Marcia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marcia Marion Heck, better known to friends and family as "Marci" was born in Provost, Alberta on July 21, 1975 to Lloyd and Verna Hoff. Marci was born and raised a country girl. The deep roots of family, loyalty and love motivated all her choices in life. So it was no surprise that the sweet little girl who grew up in Metiskow, immersed in family and tradition, returned to settle and make her home, with the man of her dreams, Robert, only a stones throw away from her parents' and childhood home.
Sissy, as her sisters lovingly called her, was an animal lover. Whether it was a little rodent that needed her attention or a powerful horse requiring a brushing, Marci's love knew no limits. Over the years she amassed a knowledge base on horses that she would eagerly share with anyone who voiced an interest in horsemanship. Her nuturing personality extended further than the people she nursed, the clients she cared for or the children she assisted. Over the past several years, Marci and her dad tended many neighbors horses - a task she took great pride in. Without a doubt all her "fur babies" will miss her loving touch and kind heart.
Mouse, as some of her cousins fondly referred to her as, was also an athlete and loved the thrill of competition. Over her 40 years, Marci enjoyed ball, hockey, school sports and barrel-racing. While she absolutely liked to win she would have never played if she didn't get a sense of comaraderie as it was time with people that she cherished.
Auntie Marci was special! She was capable of being firm and providing a stern lecture but mostly she was fun, witty, quite entertaining and most definitely loving. Nobody had an aunt who could cheer louder, hug harder or be more proud of each niece and nephew's accomplishments or milestones.
Marci kept us all on our toes. You just never knew what she would do or say. This is the little girl who would wear a dress when the occasion necessitated it but would be back in jeans the moment she felt that occasion was over. She was the young girl who would sing so sweetly at church but turn around and holler a blue streak on the ice, field or court. This was the woman who could tell the doctor he should print because his handwriting looked like he used his foot and then with the flash of her smile have him laugh and then print his orders. That was Marci - quick witted and sassy, straight-forward but never cruel. If you had a question be ready for the truth.
She is forever loved. She will be dearly missed. She lives on in the hearts and memories of each of us.
Marci unexpectedly passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at University of Alberta Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta at 40 years of age.
