Obituary of James Thomas Norman Craig

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James was born February 03, 1956, to Doctors C. Gardner and Margaret (Howson) Craig in Red Deer, AB. On Thursday, November 12, 2015, Jim passed away peacefully at the age of 59 years at the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton. Being the youngest child of five, he was busy trying to keep up with his siblings and all the activities that come with a large family. Jim filled his early years with many activities for every season. He played many different sports from hockey, football, and downhill skiing. He spent his summers at the family cabin at Gull Lake, AB. Jim finished his High School and 2 years of his Bachelor of Education degree at the Red Deer College. Choosing the University of Alberta to complete his Education degree, Jim worked in many occupations and career paths. Teaching was his career choice, as well as working at Harper's Metals, the Red Deer Golf and Country Club and the Red Deer Ski Hill. Upon moving to Wainwright, Jim was a counselllor for juveniles in a group home setting, sold real estate for Baughan Agencies, and examined drivers for motor vehicle licensing. Jim and Barb (Nicol) were married in 1983, after meeting at the Red Deer College. Clayton was born in 1989. With two children, Helia and Andrew, Clayton and his wife, Lauren, are busy building their life together in Stettler, AB. Jim enjoyed being outside hunting and fishing, camping, his "little MGB car" as well as admiring motorcycles of all makes and models. Jim was always on the move. Before moving to Wainwright, Jim traveled to Australia and New Zealand loving every minute. He volunteered with the Ducks Unlimited Committee of Wainwright, sat on the Alberta Provincial Day Care Board, and supported many groups in the community with their projects. Meeting new people brought Jim much pleasure. He loved to golf with his friends, fire up the BarBQ and grill, and try out the latest recipe he learned. Cooking was one of Jim's joys! Jim will be dearly missed by all his family and friends. Jim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Barb, son and daughter-in-law, Clayton and Lauren (Hunter) Craig of Stettler; grandchildren, Helia Jane and Andrew Thomas; four siblings, Bill (Lynn) Craig of Delbourne, AB; Jane (Don) Milliken of Victoria, BC; Ken (Bonnie) Craig of Red Deer, AB and Elizabeth Craig of Red Deer, AB; eight nieces and nephews; ten grandnieces and grandnephews; Aunt Beth Howson of Edmonton, as well as numerous cousins. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Gardner and Margaret Craig; uncles, Norman Craig and William Howson and aunts, Margaret Patmore and Isabel Wynne.
