I extend my deepest condolences to Florence, Billy, Sherry and families. I was saddened to hear of Marty's passing. Seems like a life time ago that we were kids on the farm visiting back & forth and no end of some kind of game played or invented. Football well into the dark... "if it hits you or you can feel it... you can catch it" Marty always reminded me of his Grandpa Kohlman; his smile but mostly his eyes... gentle and reassuring. I pray for your strength and comfort as you cherish Marty's memory. RIP Marty

I first met Marty in a high school band trip, although he went to Macklin school and I to Denzil, we had the same band teacher who would take all her groups together. Marty was friends with a girlfriend of mine and hence our paths crossed. And that was the beginning of many times shared with a common group of friends from Macklin, including the group of guys who played on the DIrty Dozen baseball team. Marty was also a part of the larger Kolhman clan, several of his cousins being my good girlfriends. So it seemed our paths constantly criscrossed. But right from that first band trip, Marty was such a kind person, so easy to talk to and he had this wonderful smile or "grin", as I called it. As the years passed and our lives moved on, I only occassionally ran into Marty when I was home in the area. But he was still the same guy, still easy to talk to, amde you feel comfortable and important and still had that "grin".
When I think of Marty, I think of this "there should always be people in your life that will leave footprints on your heart".
My deepest sympathy to Marty's son, Colton, the Hillis family and the larger Kohlman family. Heaven has gained another beautiful soul. He will always be watching over you.

I got sent to Macklin School after my school in Evesham closed down.While there you got to learn all about others in the school system.One was the Hillis's boys.I use to talk to Marty from time to time as he was in the next grade.
Later I spoke to him and rented my land to him and his brother,and watched both of them tend to the land as I would have.
Marty and his brother were great renters.They took care of the land so well.Like life over time you lose time with some people,but just because you lose touch with people it doesn't mean you ever forget them.
Marty was always willing to stop and exchange a chat either in a store,post office or Dieser's Garage,he always had time for a chat.I liked that,life is very short not to and Marty knew that.
To the Hillis family I want to past on my condolences to you.I know how death can happen to you,but please remember one thing...you can go one in life even if your love one isn't there with you.You never forget them.They are always with you,and if you in time get a day when your busy,they will give you a sign they are still by your side.
If there is anything at all that you need,a coffee,chat,or anything please pick up the phone and give me a call.

We were absolutely shocked to hear of Marty's passing, I am still finding it hard to believe We will always remember Marty with his Huge smile, bug heart and the Hugest Hug ever when we would run into him when we came home for visits. Heaven has gained themselves a Beautiful soul with a Big Bright Smile as he entered the Golden Gates Sending you all the Biggest Hug ever. Our Shanda had a Great Godfather she will miss his little messages he send every now and then. We are unable to make the Funeral as Mel is in Calgary all week for meetings But know that we are with you all in Spirit and will be praying for you all to make it through this trying time.
