Around Remembrance Day each year, my students wrote letters to Mr. Carter, thanking him for his service in the war. This year, we went to Hillcrest Lodge and had a little ceremony in honour of this wonderful man. The children were also able to visit with him on a couple of other occasions when the class traveled to the lodge. My students were very sad to hear of Mr. Carter's passing. I'd like to share a few of their thoughts: "Mr. Carter was so, so sweet!" "I want to be a soldier because of Mr. Carter." "Mr. Carter was very nice to visit." "Thank you for fighting in the war for us, Mr. Carter." "Thank you for teaching us more about the war, Mr. Carter." You have touched the lives of so many students at P.P.S., Mr. Carter. You are our hero!

Even though you were not afraid of death we -selflessly-wanted to keep you On this earth! But my friend: adieu and 'till we meet again!

Uncle Bill - or as my children would call him uncle Drill - they just loved it when he would stop by with the farm equipment across from our yard and walk through the garden inspecting on the way or pulling a carrot out and be eating it on the way for a coffee , he would often stop twice a day 7 days a week - he was like a second father to me often seeing him much more than my own family . He was a farmer to the core and would stop in usually bringing with him a chunk of wheat or canola - he would show you how the plant was growing - tillering - stressed - the root system - he loved to teach - one day I was planting potatoes as he was coming by and he stopped and he said he would show me a simple way to plant them by throwing the first shovel of dirt away - been planting them that way for the past 35 years . He came and planted one apple tree for each of my children and kept a stringent eye on them for years . It was those simple little things he would tell you about or teach you to do - he was great communicator - although you had to pay attention because uncle bill could talk fast - but probably the best quality he had was he always tried to encourage you and always tried to put a positive spin on all situations . I could go on forever - but uncle Bill wil be missed dearly but is , and will always be a big part of my family and I'm going to plant them potatoes that way until I can not throw that first shovel of dirt away Love Brian -Anita-Bradley - Graham - Tara

Condolences to all of the Carter family. We enjoyed visiting with Bill whenever we met him. He was always so sharp & knowledgeable. The whole community will miss him. He went to speak to the students every Remembrance Day for years so the younger generation all knew and respected him also.
