Obituary of Jason Burdett Bignell

Please share a memory of Jason to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On March 15, 2016, Jason Burdett Bignell (34) lost his battle with colon cancer. No words can express our profound loss and sadness. Jason leaves behind his wife of 5 years, Karin; son, Keaton (7); daughter, Tristyn (3); parents, Bob & Wendy Bignell; brothers, Robert (Brandie), Ryan (Brandi) Bulmer; nephew, Kale; sister, Michelle Bulmer; grandma, Irene Swanson; in-laws, Rick & Diane Sauer, brothers-in-law, Aaron (Sam) and Jeremy; and niece, Keira. Jason was predeceased by his mother, Sharon Bignell in 1996. Jason was diagnosed in the fall of 2013 and started a regime of chemo every two weeks. This would be his life for the next two years. On the weeks he didn't have chemo, he lived life to the fullest. He was able to check a few things off his bucket list which included traveling to Cabo and two trips to Phoenix with his wife. For their fourth anniversary, Jason and Karin also experienced their first fly in fishing trip to Colin Lake, Alberta. Jason also got to see the West Coast with the kids. The trip was filled with laughter, sea shells and rainy BC weather. Between treatments in the summer you could count on seeing Jason out on the ball diamonds. He was always an asset in center field. In the last two years, Jason's "ball" friends have become family and an overwhelming positive support system. In addition to ball, Jason loved just being outdoors; out in the bush and fishing with family and friends. Jason loved his family, and anyone who met him could not help but love him for his gentle, positive and easygoing personality. He will be missed by all and forever in our hearts. We, both of Jason & Karin's families, are grateful for the continual love and support, the fundraisers and monetary donations over the last two years.
