Obituary of Frank Joseph Deck

Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank, son of Balzar and Monica (Wagman) Deck, was born May 9, 1930 in Macklin, Saskatchewan. Frank grew up with five brothers and three sisters. Frank married Loreen Koehmstedt on October 25, 1954. Together they made a home and raised their eight children on the family farm north east of Denzil. Mom and dad moved off the farm and retired to Provost in March of 2000 where they continued to spend their golden years. Many new friendships were made and countless card games were played over the years. As the farm was always "home", Dad made many weekly trips back there just to make sure things were being done right. Dad was truly one of a kind. Although he was a man of great faith, his occasional off-side sense of humor was his trademark, even in his final days and hours. If you be-friended him and he liked you in return, the friendship bond would be golden…and if he didn't, well, he would let you know that too. He always had time for a coffee and a visit and was great at giving you advice, even if you didn't ask for it. Besides sausage making, a game of cards, or a good BS session at the coffee shop, Dad's priority was being a number one cheerleader and fan to so many of his grandkids. He made many miles to the local rinks and ball diamonds to watch them, and he would beam with pride when someone talked about them. Dad, we thank you for all of the lessons you taught us like "The first one in church gets the back bench" or "The scorekeeper always wins" or our favorite "How not to say a proper good-bye on the phone" as we were often cut off by a click on the other end before the conversation ended, so Dad, today is not "Good-bye", it's until we meet again. Frank passed away after a short stay in the hospital on March 29, 2016 at St. Paul's Hospital, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan at 85 years.
