Obituary of Douglas Peter Fischer
Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Doug was born to Paul and Maryan Fischer on June 11, 1956 in Macklin, Sask. He was the oldest of 4 children, 1 preceded him in death.
Doug grew up on a farm outside of Macklin, where he had lots of happy memories. As a teenager, he began to farm with his Dad Paul. The 2 of them farmed 7 quarters of land for several years together. Doug and Donna met at an early age and spent 38 wonderful years together. They had 2 beautiful children, Crystal and Collin, whom he loved very much.
Doug loved drawing, tinkering, taking pictures, electronics, Sunday drives, and playing with his only grandchild Gage. He was a loving and caring person, devoted husband, dad and friend. Doug was a simple man who truly understood the value of a dollar. When things were broke, he didn't believe in going out and buying new. He would use anything and everything to fix it. He was very inventive in how he fixed items and created new items out of what everyone else thought was garbage.
Doug passed away on April 14, 2016 at St. Paul's Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit at 59 years of age.
