Obituary of Maria Margareta Hollman

Please share a memory of Maria to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with a sincere and deep sense of loss but love; the family of Maria Margareta (Stang) Hollman announces her peaceful passing on October 25, 2016 at the age of 88 years in Macklin Saskatchewan. Maria was born at home on the farm NE of Saint Peter's Church, Cosine Saskatchewan to Emmanuel & Barbara (Kloster) Stang on August 4, 1928 and was the first child of 12. Maria (Mary) married Joseph (Joe) Michael Hollman, June 15, 1948 at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church near Cosine Saskatchewan. Maria and Joseph were blessed with ten children: five were born in Saskatchewan and five were born in Alberta. In March of 1956, Joseph, Maria & family moved to Ponoka, Alberta where she lived, worked and continued to raise her and Joseph's family for 46 years. Maria was very involved in the Ponoka community serving as a member and President of the Ponoka Catholic Women's League then transferred her membership to the Macklin CWL; a member of the Ponoka Order of the Royal Purple, was a canvassing volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Mom and Dad retired to Macklin, Saskatchewan in 2001. Both Maria & Joseph taught their children how important faith was by praying the Rosary together daily & attending Mass every Sunday. She enjoyed cooking, knitting, crocheting, gardening, sewing, volunteered at the Hospital auxiliary at Ponoka & Macklin & had a passion for music, she encouraged her children to take music and play sports. Maria was a charitable, kind & humble mother who was always there to help with little or no recognition from others. Her love for her children & their children was forever apparent. Grandma Maria & "Papa Joe" attended many of their grandchildren's special occasions, baptisms, 1st Communions, confirmations, graduations & weddings. We will always remember Mom with perpetual prayers and singing, as well, many pictures we will cherish with our families, the love & care she taught and nurtured while on this earth.
