Doug, I was so happy to share my best friend with you. She loved you unconditionally. I remember you saying to me so many times "Foxy , I don't lknow what I would without her" and now it is her who doesn't know what to do without you. I hope someday I have the same love that you two did. I love you and miss you so much. Rest easy my Friend .

My first recollection of Doug would be at the age of 5 or 6 at the old farm, as the Krieger farm was only a few miles from ours. I guess we've known each other our whole lives.
I remember playing telstar on our black & white TV with my brother Rene and Doug, as I was the youngest I was always last to get a turn.
Growing up we went to school in Primate, and mostly what was important at Primate school was hockey! Hank Ostrosky made sure hockey was a big part of our school. All of the boys had to play together, regardless of age, so we had enough players to make up a team. This was always to our advantage, as we had older boys like Doug that could actually slap the puck. The other goalie was always scared. Our weekly trip to Macklin always resulted in a win.
Doug and Eddie Sieben were the head mass serves at Grosswerder Church, and when I started to serve mass, Doug would always help me out by telling me what to do, and pushing me in the right direction. I guess he has always looked out for me.
After Primate school Doug went on to work in the oil patch, and we would cross paths from time to time. We would have a few drinks and a few laughs, and be on our way again.
Close to 11 years ago I started working with Doug in the oil industry. I guess what sticks out about Doug for me was his patients with new workers. As long as you tried your best, that was always good enough for Doug. If I did something dumb, I would get a laugh and maybe a 'Wayneee, Wayneee'.
What I learnt from Doug was 1. Family and friends are what's important in this life. 2. Keep your vehicle clean, and all vehicles should be the color black with extra chrome 3. Keep your machinery in good repair 4. Anything I ever needed to know about the oil patch, which I've also heard countless times from various people over the years working in the oil industry.
Well Doug, you've been a good friend to both Darla & I. I'm going to miss your friendship, your expertise of the oil industry, and most of all your infectious laugh. May you rest in peace. You will always be missed.
