Obituary of Harold Boyd Mock
Please share a memory of Harold to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Harold Boyd Mock was born on May 17, 1933 in Medicine Hat, Alberta to Gottlob and Mary Mock. He was the third of four children. An older sister passed away from appendicitis. Howard was born, then Harold and followed by Roy. They grew up in a farming/ranching community, in the Many Island Lakes area near Irvine. As a child he could only speak German.
Harold and Lillian were married May 26, 1967 in a double wedding ceremony in the United Church in Provost. The newlyweds first lived in a trailer which was 8 feet wide by 40 feet long. Anyone visiting in the early years will remember travelling the longest prairie trail through the pasture to get to their place. Many evenings were spent visiting and playing cards and music and everyone seemed to fit in their home.
In 1972 their first child Sandra was born. Harold was so proud to be a father with his beautiful little angel daughter. In 1980, their second child, Shawn was born. How excited Harold was. With a daughter and a son, now their family was complete.
With hard work and patience, Harold and Lillian built up the home ranch. Ranching was Harolds passion and he was always on the go. Many hours spent feeding cows, hauling feed from Brownfield with his green truck, milking cows and feeding newborn calves. They took special pride in their Hereford herd. Harold had a very quiet herd of cattle and he was much like the pied piper of cows. Harold would call "Come On" and the entire herd would come on the run.
Harold believed deeply in God, which was evident how he lived his life and treated his family and friends. He never left a family member behind and was always thinking of others. Sandra explained" Dad does everything for us." His hug was like being hugged by a bear and you felt thoroughly loved. The hug was followed by a "God Bless & Bless You".
While Harold was very ill, he gave his parting directions to Lillian. He insisted that she feed Big Bully and don't leave anything hungry. Uncle Harold passed from this life on April 12 with Lillian and Sandra by his side. Harold is in heaven having reunion with those who have gone before him.
He is deeply loved and dearly missed. Until we meet again, No excuses.
Harold will be forever missed by his loving wife of nearly 50 years, Lillian; daughter, Sandra; son, Shawn (Michelle); brothers, Howard (Loreen) and Roy; sisters in law, Margaret Kvigstad, Carolyn Rampling and Gayle (Bob) Howes; as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
