Obituary of Adolph Peter Scherger

Adolph "Eddy" Scherger was born on January 15, 1932 to parents Michael and Eva Scherger at Cosine, Saskatchewan. Eddy was born in the great depression into a family of 14 siblings and at an early age he learned the virtue of hard work and resourcefulness. He had the reputation of being able to do pretty much anything if he thought about it long enough and make just about anything from next to nothing. He was a skilled horseman and a master gardener and in his later years became renown for Uncle Eddies purple potatoes, pails of tomatoes and monster cucumbers despite many recipients of his produce requesting picking them when they were smaller he just liked growing them bigger and considered anything less a waste. In the early years times were hard and spending money on entertainment wasn't a choice. He and many others of the era learned to be creative in order to entertain themselves. He self-taught himself to play guitars, banjo, mandolin, and button accordion and attended the many community dances. Ed married Rose Hollman on August. 2, 1957 Together they grew the love of dancing and were well known in the Polka fest group of friends as they attended all the events within traveling distance well into their retirement years. Eddy passed away on November 17, 2017 at the Provost Health Centre at the age of 85 years. Ed is survived by his Brother Elmer (Helene) Scherger, Sister Jeanette (Pat) Robison, Sister Inlaws Donna (Leo) Scherger, Elizabeth (Jack) Scherger, Betty (Wilfred) Scherger and numerous nieces and nephews. Eddy was predeceased by his wife Rose, parents Mike and Eva, seven Brothers, five Sisters and inlaws.
