Joseph Jacob Weinkauf was born on October 15, 1936 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Katherine Weinkauf.
Joe grew up on the family farm south of Macklin. On August 26, 1972 he married Valerie Fisher and together they raised one daughter, Lynette.
Joe worked many years as a mechanic at Hillis' Garage in Macklin until his retirement. His passion for fixing things and tinkering around in the yard or garage occupied most of his time. He also enjoyed working as a hired man on various farms in the area over the years. Joe loved music, especially playing the accordion and having get togethers with other musical friends. He always made time to visit and help others around him.
Joe was very proud of his two grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them.
Surrounded by his family, Joe passed away peacefully on December 4, 2017 at the Lloydminster Hospital.
Joe leaves behind his wife of 45 years, Valerie; daughter, Lynette (Kevin) Steinhubel; grandchildren, Foster & Devyn Steinhubel; sister, Margaret (Wilfred) Fleck; brothers, Alex (Hilaria), Frank (Marie), Otto and Edward (Sandra); sisters in law, Vera Weinkauf, Darlene Weinkauf and Marilyn (David) Steve-Zorn; brothers in law, James (Bernie) Fisher, Dan (Janet) Fisher; as well as numerous other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Katherine Weinkauf; brothers, Peter Weinkauf and John Weinkauf; sisters, Julia (Jack) Stang and Marie (Joe) Stang; nephews, Elmer Stang and Quinton Fisher; nieces, Corinna Weinkauf and Janet Koenig; parents in law, Walter & Betty Fisher.
