Obituary of Jean Pamela Rees

This tells the story of a woman who has witnessed the poverty of the depression; the long lean years when people sold out and friends moved away. She had seen the final horse, drawn carts replaced by cars; electricity put into all homes and her children, grandchildren and some great grandchildren grown. It has been a full life, born in 1931 in Heswell, England; she was raised on her parent's farm in the Big Gap district of the neutral hills. She went to boarding school in Consort, Alberta where she made three life-long friends, Dorothy, Ella and Helen. She took her last year of high school at Red Deer Normal, and then worked for a year at Big Gap School as a teacher assistant before marrying Tim Rees in 1950. Together they had six children; Rosalie - 1951, Warden - 1953, Edward - 1954, Jean - 1955, Howard - 1957 and Catherine - 1958. Pam moved to Sunset Manor in Wainwright, Alberta where her apartment looked out over pastureland. She often saw deer and birds. She decided to move to Battle River Lodge in 2003 where she met her very good friend, George Pugh and they could be seen out and about enjoying each other's company until his passing in 2014. Pam had a stroke in the summer of 2011 which slowed her down a bit but she didn't stop driving for another couple of years, then finally she gave up her car in the fall of 2015. Her broken pelvis slowed her a bit more but her stubborn determination stood her in good stead as she met her later life challenges. Her last heath problem paved the way for her final move. Pam is survived by her children; son, Warden (Marian); daughter, Jean; son, Howard (Joanne); grandchildren, Ray (Sheila), Keith (Krystal), Glen (Sara), Rosalie (Max), Tim (Amanda), Pat (Nicole), Randy, Richele, Michelle (Kevin) and Justin (Randi-lee); great grandchildren, Eric, Evan, Hailey, Maddie, K.C., Kathryn, Trinity, Sammi, Abbi, Ben, Ava, Branden (Kaitlyn), Brianne, Kyle, Donovan, Staci, Sheldon, Kelsey, Jessica, Beau, Jacob, Cody and twins, Ella and William; as well as numerous other relatives and friends. Pamela was predeceased by her husband, Tim - 1997; infant children, Rosalie and Edward; daughter, Cathy - 2005; daughter-in-laws, Pat - 1999 and Debria - 2010.
