Randy Wayne was born in Nipawin, Saskatchewan to Oliver Carl and Thelma Lois Ekencrantz. Randy lived in several Saskatchewan locations as his dad worked for CPR for many years. He spent his later school years in Kerrobert, Sask. He moved to Edmonton and became a Registered Nursing Orderly, working at St.Jo's and the Royal Alex Hospitals, where he met his future wife, Susanne, who was training to be an R.N. They married the summer of 1973 in her hometown of Consort, Alberta. Shortly after, Randy became a partner in Kingsway Towing, running three tow trucks of his own and the dispatch center out of his home. His oldest daughter, Melanie, was born in 1977 in Edmonton. In the fall of 78 the family moved to Provost. Randy worked at the Husky, and Blue Flame Propane, obtaining his gas-fitting ticket. Shortly after his son Trevor was born in 1980, the family relocated to Hayter where Randy pursued his dream of once again running his own towing business and auto service center. Miranda, his youngest daughter was born in 1986. He continued to run his business until the 1990's. In the last few years, Randy settled at Macklin and worked for various trucking businesses, either servicing trucks or hauling freight out of Provost, Nisku, Lloydminster, and Edmonton. In the summer of 2007, Randy accompanied his daughter Mel, his son in law Bjorn, and their kids, Sheldon and Kellie to Bjorn's homeland of Germany where he met and visited with Bjorns many relatives. In late October 2008, Randy was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and began a series of treatments in Edmonton. He was able to spend the month of August with Mel and Bjorn in Eckville, Alberta before entering the Red Deer Hospice for his final two weeks. Randy is survived by his daughters, Melanie(Bjorn) of Eckville, AB and Miranda of Edmonton, AB; son, Trevor of Macklin, SK; grandchildren, Sheldon and Kellie; sisters, Jan Hillman, Doreen Bolt and Debbie Menssa; brothers, George and Darrell Ekencrantz; former spouse, Susanne Deleff; as well as numerous other relatives and special friends. Randy was predeceased by his parents, Carl Sr. and Lois Ekencrantz; brother, Carl Jr.
