Obituary of Otto August Weinkauf

Please share a memory of Otto to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Otto August Weinkauf was born on October 10, 1950 in Macklin, Saskatchewan to Joseph and Katherine Weinkauf and was the ninth child in a family of ten. Otto grew up and helped on the family farm south of Macklin. At an early age Otto developed a keen interest in electronics and attended school in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan to further this interest. He liked nothing better than to trouble shoot anything that someone had problems with, especially in the area of computers. He made sure everything was always working the way it should and never expected anything in return. He worked in various fields, including Rural Telephone Companies, Northern Auto Parts in Melfort, Macklin Coop Lumber, and Petro Canada Oil Field at Cactus Lake. Otto loved music, helping people, and spending time with family. Otto passed away peacefully with family by his side on January 31, 2018 at the Provost Health Centre after a short, but courageous battle with cancer. He leaves behind his sister, Margaret (Wilfred) Fleck; brothers, Alex (Hilaria) Weinkauf, Frank (Marie) Weinkauf, Edward (Sandra) Weinkauf; sisters in law, Vera Gartner, Darlene Weinkauf, Valerie Weinkauf; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Katherine Weinkauf; sisters, Marie (Joe) Stang, Julia (Jack) Stang; brothers, Joseph, John, Peter; nephew, Elmer Stang; nieces, Corinna Weinkauf, Janet Koenig; and great niece, Kristin Brown. Otto will always be remembered for his big heart, his kindness and his readiness to just listen to you. We will miss him dearly.
