Obituary of Bernadine Dielschneider

Bernadine Margaret Dielschneider was born on May 20, 1924 and spent her childhood on the family farm near Primate, Saskatchewan. After attending elementary school at Falconhurst School, she continued her education in Prelate, Saskatchewan and joined the Ursuline Sisters of Prelate. She spent 25 years with the Sisters, teaching in various schools throughout the province. In 1967, she joined the Melville School Unit as a teacher in a two-room school house in Birmingham, Saskatchewan. Bernie ended her career in a supervisory role where she traveled to all schools throughout the Unit. She retired at age 65 and moved to Regina, where she lived for nearly two decades until moving to Provost, where she welcomed the company of her sister Katie. After moving in to Hillcrest Lodge, Bernie continued in her leadership roles as she often coordinated and led praying the Rosary with her fellow residents. Bernie was the ultimate aunt - kind, fun, generous, and caring. Her warmth was reflected in many ways: making special Christmas dinners for family in Regina, supplying pans of her famous pistachio dessert, acting as Confirmation sponsor for many nieces and nephews, and driving long distances (while saying the rosary) to visit extended family. She loved needlepoint, travel, and splitting $20 with her friends at the casino after church on Sunday. A lifelong teacher, she continued to pass on lessons to those close to her, including the importance of family, faith, and a fashionable outfit. Although Bernie never had children of her own, she was very much a part of her extended families lives. Bernie passed away at Provost, Alberta on May 19, 2018, one day shy of her 94th birthday. Bernie is survived by her sister, Katie Reschny; brothers, Tony (Shari) and Peter (Fran) Dielschneider; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Christopher and Josephine (Bichel) Dielschneider; sisters, Frances (in infancy), Madeline (Leopold) Mildenberger and Anna Mary (Joe) Weinkauf; brothers in law, Joe Reschny and Herman Reschny; sister in law, Joyce Dielschneider.
