Obituary of Euphrasia Gartner

Please share a memory of Euphrasia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Euphrasia was born Jan 20, 1924 to Nick and Rose Heffner; she grew up in the St Donatus area and married Pete Gartner June 18, 1945. They started their married life farming in the St Donatus area and then moved to Evesham. Later they moved to a farm north of Primate and then in 1970 to Macklin. They had twelve children, Martina, Harold, Allan, Lionel, Georgina, Donatus, Bernadine, Joseph, Loretta, Denalda, (Joseph Peter and Petronilla died at infancy) Euphrasia genuinely enjoyed people; she acquired the title 'social butterfly' which suited her. In her mid sixties she liked a lot of action like playing golf, fishing, going for long walks with friends, discing in bonspiels, playing cards and bingo and made many a bride and groom happy when she would make two huge laundry baskets full to the brim with Grebel for their guests. While living in the Villa Marie she looked forward to her yearly country tours viewing the St. Donatus area where she grew up as well as checking out the old farming area in the Evesham and Primate districts, every year it was a new adventure for her just to see what it all looks like 'now'. Euprasia liked doing things spontaneously. If you happened to drop in and mention going for ice cream she was quick to grab her jacket. After the ice cream cone she liked to tour a bit around town. Interacting with activities at the Villa where also a highlight. She enjoyed the bingos, playing cards, morning exercises, the soup and stretchy days and the entertainment that came by. When Euphrasia was inspired she would knit slippers like there was no tomorrow and these slippers were enjoyed by many in the area. She was always very gracious if you took the time to have a short visit. Before you continued on your way it was important that you get a 'hug', hugs were very important to her and hugs were plentiful. Euphrasia's family has grown to a total of 88, she was a Mom, Grandma, and Great Grandma who was loved and will be missed.
